Just in case anyone is wondering, sometimes I write the name of the city Havana, some other times Habana. I don’t mean anything by it, the “official” name is Habana but both are in circulation so sometimes I use one, some other time another, that’s all.

Originally, the spanish term for the capital of Cuba was Havana and the english expression, habannah, whose some interpret to come from ‘heaven’. A Spanish conquistador wrote in a letter that the daughter of the local indian chieftain was named Habana. Nevertheless, language is alive and changes regardless of official attempts otherwise, so by custom alone, Havana is used when writing in english and Habana used when writing in spanish.
